It's finished

The picture isn't great but you get the idea, not quite as many animals as I would have liked but I ran out of time.
It's up behind the tree and everything looks very festive.
I'm just about ready for Christmas so it's time to put my feet up and enjoy Christmas and a few mince pies ;o).......ok rather alot of mince pies then.
I hope you are all ready for Christmas, if not put your feet up and enjoy a mince pie anyway.

Woolly woodland animals

I am in love with lil foxes and deers at the minute....can't get enough of them. I wanted to make some little foxy decorations out of lovely wool felt. Que frantic searching on pinterest and flickr for real foxes, cartoon foxes, japanese foxes and all sorts of foxes in general. A very happy afternoon was had I can tell you.
So I drew my own fox using inspiration from everywhere, I think the japanese influences won, so here's my lil foxy

Then I thought that deer have a very similar face shape, if I just stretched the legs and and changed the tail he could be a deer too, so here's my lil deer to go with

I can't tell you how happy I am with these little animals but they are a little floppy so not so good for decorations. I so wanted to use them though so I thought I would make some bunting or a form of any way.
Last year I made some little crochet snowflakes thanks to Lucy at Attic 24 I love her blog and her fantastic free tutorials she is so brilliant, she also has a pattern for holly leaves (although mine look more like oak leaves). So my bunting is going to consist of little woodland animals and some crochet leaves and snowflakes, I'll maybe even add some flowers too.

Although it's not finished yet, I want to add some more animals and something to hang it on I'm really pleased with how it's looking, I'm hoping it will be up and finished by Christmas, I'll do some more at sewing club tonight.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend

Back again......

Hello,
I'm back, the computer is fixed hooray......amazing the hassle that's caused by needing a hard drive replaced !
Well I've been desperate to show and tell a couple of quilts I've made. The first one being made with the beautiful Joel Dewberry Heritage fabric, I can't get enough of it it's lovely.

I'm so pleased with this one, wish I could keep it....it's not for me....unless the recipient doesn't like it ....
The next one I made with Momo Oh Deer fabric, which was love at first sight, so bright and fresh and just a bit Christmassy. I just made a small lap quilt which is backed with a lovely soft snuggle cloth. I use it every evening and I love it, keeping this one :-)

Still a few more things to show, I'm really excited about some woolly woodland animal bunting that I'm making.
See you next week,

Tweet tweet cushion cover

I had some beautiful fabric left from a quilt I'm making, so I thought I would make some cushion covers with it, I also had some batting left so the cover is quilted too. I just love jewel bright colours at the moment so bright and fresh, yet that lovely blackberry colour keeps it feeling very autumnal, this one has a home already and I've had an order for five of them, lovely : )
I have had to order some more fabric, it's Heritage by Joel Dewberry I got a fat quarter bundle and there isn't one of the designs that isn't stunning, I can't wait to show you the quilt. Now I must away and make more.

Christmas Stockings

I've started the Christmas things already, I am determined not to leave it till the last minute this year, although I must confess I do feel that I've already left it too late, better late than never I say.
So I've made the children some new stockings they are a little bigger than the old ones not huge but big enough to fit more than a tube of sweets in, 38 cm long and the opening is 18cm wide.

They are quilted fully lined and personalised, I have made them with 100% cotton prints so they will be washable and hopefully last a long time, it would be so lovely to think that one day their own children may use them.....
So Christmas is started then, best I go and make some more things while I'm on a roll : )

Have a lovely weekend

embroidery for soon to be 11 year olds ( if her Mum doesn't nick it ! )

Hello, eek thats about two weeks since the last post, September has flown by at the speed of light !
So much for being a more consistent blogger : )
Any way, last time I promised a post about a lovely embroidery kit from Lilipopo, I saw these kits when Kate first listed them and thought that would be lovely for Hollie as you get everything you need and full instructions. As usual I dithered and they had all gone but fortunately Kate had listed some more phew.

It all comes in this cute little bag

You really do get everything you need

Kate has also included spare fabric and the pattern so you can do another one.
You also get detailed instructions for the stitches

I am sure Hollie will adore this kit and more importantly I'm sure she will be able to do it,
it will be her first piece of embroidery, all I need to do is keep my hands off it and NOT INTERFERE!!!
Lilipopo has a lovely blog and you can get to all her lovely patterns and makes in her shop from her blog.
I'll try not to leave it too long before the next post, have a lovely weekend.

Quiet.....

It's so very quiet here, the children have returned to school, which is lovely as they are both very happy to be back to normal as am I.
There is a little part of me that is sad that they aren't here, we aren't still lounging in our PJ's with nothing planned at all except lunch!
Much as they are noisy, squabble and charge round like looneys really annoying me most of the time I really do miss them, I expect thats the same as any one with children....
So back to normallity and high time I got back into the swing of blogging again.
I have had a play with the header and I think I have a picture which is more suitable, I had a great time moving furniture about to make a lovely little corner look perfect, rest assured that is NOT how it really is but you really don't want to see that, trust me you really don't.
So over the summer I managed to make another quilt, I like making quilts alot, I've started on my third...I now realise why hand made quilts are sooo expensive not only do they take a while to make but the fabric costs quite a bit....more than I thought it might.
I haven't really got any during pictures as once again I totally forgot to take any progress pics, I just get so engrossed it doesn't even cross my mind, I'm at the quilting stage on the next quilt too and guess what? Yep no progress pictures!
I made this quilt for Woody's chair, it is just shy of queen size and it's the absolute biggest I could manage. I had to shift all the furniture to baste it and it only just about fit, thats a lesson learned.

So there it is held up by my two lovely assistants, I used up alot of scraps for this one and it goes on Woody's chair beautifully, I have even caught him having a little nap under it too (but I have to keep that a secret ok?)
I hope every one has had a lovely summer and you've had at least some sun, I think we did ok weather wise in the end it turned out to be rather wonderful, lets hope Autumn is too, I have some amazing pumpkins growing in the veggie garden, can't to show you.
I also managed to get my hands on one of Lilipopo's emboidery kits which I want to show you too. It's not for me though, it's for Hollie : ) may have to get another one for me.

Enjoy the weekend
see you soon

Knew I couldn't keep away

Hello, how is everyone ?
I knew I wouldn't make it until September and I have something to show off at last, so yes this is just a big show off ta-da post.
I finished the hexie quilt YAY, YAY, YAY, it was a bit of a slog, but it's done now.
It's a bit pink as it was a use up stash quilt but as it's turned out single bed size it will be fine for one of the girls.
Do you want to see it ?
Ok,
Ta-daladadidleedaaaaaaaaaaaaa.....

I was so excited about finishing this quilt, it's the first big quilt I've ever made and I don't think I'll be hand sewing another hexie quilt any time soon.
It has busted my stash though....hmm time for some fabric shopping I think : )

Blogging is a winter sport, well for me anyway

I have been struggling to write a post for a couple of weeks, I suppose it's because I haven't made anything really and I haven't had the light to photograph anything.
I have my allotment and garden and we are house hunting add to that family life and a young dog who needs training and two walks a day and time is escaping me.
In a very good way of course I love to be busy but something has to give and at this time of year I am too busy to make things and I don't really want to be sat inside at the computer.
So a blogging break is necessary, I promise I'll be back after the summer holidays, if not before.
And I will still be visiting all the lovely blogs I like to read.
I shall sign off for now and wish you all a wonderful summer ( if the sun decides to come out that is )

Second Princess from Lilipopo

Firstly I should appologise for missing a week, I just didn't find the time to blog last week, I'm so sorry. This weeks post nearly hasn't happened as there has been something wrong with the internet in the area and I've only just managed to get on line today, it's v e r y  v e r y  s l o w.
Not so much to show you as the weather has been very very wet, therefore it's been too dark to take any decent photos. I am still working on my big quilt, the top is slowly taking shape. I have also been working at growing lots of seedlings, this is such an exciting time of year for me, my green house is bursting at the seams it's so full of plants : )
I recieved the pattern for the second dancing princess from Lilipopo quite a few weeks ago but I have only just got round to stitching her, this is the smallest one and she is tiny and so so cute.
I have signed up to a Jubilee swap and this little princess is going to be made into a little needle book as part of my swap offerings, I have also been collecting other things for my partner Rhiannon from the sewing boutique, I think it will be a good one.
Have a lovely week

Tuesday 17 April 2012

Hello......

Well it's been a few weeks since I've tended to my blog and I have really enjoyed my Easter break. I hope you all had a lovely break too.
The Children are both back to full health ( until they catch something else of course ) they are very happy to be back at school after two weeks of scootering, cycling, yes Sophie is now able to ride with no stabilisers hooray, trips to church farm, having their Daddy at home and of course plenty of chocolate eating : )
I have been on the allotment sewing carrots and peas. I've been weeding, digging and planning. I have also sewn some brocoli, leeks, tomatoes, verbena, sweet peas, and petunias in the green house. It's looking very full in there.
I have made some really good progress on the hexagon quilt, in fact I now only have one and a bit more flowers to do and I can start filling in the gaps and sewing it together, my fabric drawer is looking alot more manageable now, all ready to be filled with some new fabric ( good job Woody doesn't read this ).
It's been wonderful to do some blog reading too and I have discovered some lovely blogs and had a rearange of the list of blogs I enjoy reading, it's right at the bottom of the page. I must look at moving it nearer the top.
We also had a lovely trip to Stow hall, we often drive past and say how beautiful the gardens are and wouldn't it be wonderful to look around, Imagine how excited we were to find that they were open to the public on Easter day ( VERY ) and dogs on leads were welcome so Casper came too. It was lovely and we can't wait to go again.
Not a great picture but you get the idea, this quilt is going to be rather larger than I thought, it's sitting on a kingsize bed here, I don't do things by halves me : )

These are all from Stow hall and they really don't do it justice or cover half of it, there were hellebores,  magnolias some very imaginative topiary, ancient trees and beautiful buildings. I want to go back at all different times of the year to see how it changes. What a magical place and it's about 10 mins from where we live, wonderful.
Well, that just about covers Easter I think, Wishing you all a wonderful week,
Emma x
P.S. sorry the post looks like a bag of skittles has exploded on it but I have just discovered how to change the font colour, there will be no stopping me now ;)
